Earth is Moving is a very different record than our last album New Patterns. Firstly it was written in a very short timespan with a clear concept in mind. We wanted to make an alblum that had a retro, nostalgic rock-touch to it. This also became clear once we started to work on the songs with our new bandmates Dizz and Envade, building up a group dynamic that was new to us and fitted our vision of the material we had written.
We early on realised that we wanted to record the material in a live fashion, contrary to New Patterns which was recorded over a longer timespan and instrument by instrument. So we departed to Music A-matic in April of 2013 with our gear and microphones, set on doing a quick session with the intention of creating a 60-70s style of album, fitting the songs to a LP rather than a CD.
We set up our gear in the smaller studio of Music A-matic, guitar and vocals recorded simantaniously in the same room while the drums was recorded in another room. Our friend Tomas Rauhala helped us out with the engineering and recording. The lights in the studio created a buzzing sound on the guitar, therefore all lights were cut except for the small lamp standing on a mic pre-amp, depicted on the back of the album cover. We worked concentrated and intensivly during three days, playing the songs untill we got a good take. Everything you hear on Earth is Moving was recorded during those three days except for the running water sound that Nadja recorded at the brook at her ancesteral home in the swamps of nothern Finland, where the mosquitos are born.
We mixed the album ourselves with Envade mostly in the drivers seat, trying our best to mantain that organic and un-modern feeling we allways had the vision of.
Needless to say we are very proud of our album and we hope that you will like it and that it will make your life richer in some way.
